Now this image takes a bit of looking at before things start to fit into place. I had flown right over hear without seeing it many times before I saw what to look for. In the center of the picture towards the background is a rectangular clump of trees... well that's the far end on the runway. this shot is looking right down the runway center line as if to land. There is another runway running left to right although its clearer to see on the right. You can also make out traces of long removed hedge lines in the center left. These were presumably removed for the building of the airfield during the war but even after 60 years they show up. The foreground is the remains of the buildings and I hear some structures such as shelters remain there.
