Rocester Roman Fort Staffordshire -fb04868.jpg
Little remains of the Roman Fort today. The open area is "Abbey Fields " which was the southern end of the fort and if you imagine that extending to twice that size towards the top left of the image that is the full extent of the fort area. On the right edge of the field the perimiter ditch can just be made out. The other markings and patterns to be seen in the field are probably remains of the St Marys Augustinian Abbey or the Manor House which was built following the disbanding of the Abbey in 1538.
