The stadium was first opened in 1910 and is the home stadium of Manchester Utd. It is situated in a suburb of Manchester called Old Trafford which is just to the west of the city centre (click here to see a map) just south of Salford docks. With a capacity of around 68000 it is currently the largest stadium in England although the new stadium at Wembly will be bigger. To visit the clubs website www.manutd.com click here.

I have taken a number of photographs of the stadium from all directions. As with many stadiums the front view is facing into sun so the better views are from the back. I took MG5084 at a fairly shallow angle so you can read the full word Manchester. This was tricky to do from 1000 feet and doing 100 miles per hour. It also requires a bit of tricky flying as normally when looking sideways out of the aircraft the wing strut is in the way so to take a nice square on image like the above requires the aircraft to be placed at a 45 degree angle to the subject. Unfortunately the shallow angle means that the pitch isn't very visible so I've taken another at a steeper angle to show almost the full pitch. The MG reference images were taken in 2005 and the aa referenced photos were taken in 2006 as the extension was nearing completion. Since 2008 new images are added in my new php stadiums gallery. The first of these new images with the cb number was taken in 2008 and is 21 megapixels which shows amazing levels of detail when printed.

The image above is reduced from the original 3504 X 2336 pixels to 800 X 550 pixels. To show the amount of detail on the full image here is a little extract of one part from this picture shown at 100% from the original file. I shot the image on a Canon 20D with an L series 24-70 f2.8 so it should be pretty good.

Frames are our standard dark wood frame with thick mountboard beveled edge mount and acrylic glass( worldwide p&p is included)
