and below is a tiny extract of this image enlarged.

The images above are typical of the vertical aerial photography we do, however we describe it as a near vertical aerial photograph. The difference?... well if you look very closely is a few degrees off perfectly vertical. The reason is we use hand held camera equipment and the image is judged by eye. We do not do ortho- corrected vertical aerial photography, for this you would require a cartographic specialist. In addition we only do single shot subjects, we do not do overlapping stitched together images. Our vertical imagery is suitable is suitable for brochure illustrations and schematic illustrations to accompany planning applications. It is not, however suitable for en exact scale plan... that would require ortho correction. The above was a part of a typical aerial photograph shoot .... a series of oblique aerial photos and then this was requested as an extra to be used as a visitors plan. Cost implications of verticals; verticals alone don't usually require any more cost than our usual prices in the price list, however if you require a combination of both oblique and vertical views then sometimes there may be an addition to the cost due to the extra time in gaining additional air traffic control clearances and climbing to a greater height. In most areas this would not be significant, however close to Manchester airport it would add significantly to the costs as our likely operating height for vertical aerial imagery is busy with airliners.
Time implications for vertical aerial photography ; vertical images need to be taken from much higher up and this will mean a longer wait for suitable weather. The wider the area then the higher we have to be so the longer we have to wait on average. It is however all down to luck and the weather , one customer may wait 24 hours and the next a month. NB All commissioned aerial work will be done in compliance with all legislation and CAA guidelines in particular it will be done with a two man crew and by a commercially licensed pilot (not a private pilot) in a commercially certificated aircraft (not a private aircraft) ( In the UK it is illegal to use a private pilot or private aircraft for air work including aerial photography). For added safety and in addition to the chief pilot the aerial photographer (Jonathan C.K.Webb) is also a qualified pilot.
