Grade II listed Holy Trinity Church was built 1774-6 and designed by Kenton Couse with additions , alterations and restorations in the 19th and 20th centuries. At the end of the 18th century and beginning of the 19th century the church played a prominent role with the "Clapham Sect" and the campaign for the abolition of slavery which was achieved in 1807 with the Abolition of the Slave Trade and 1833 with the Slavery Abolition Act. The church carries a plaque to commemorate William Wilberforce and the Clapham Sect.
