aerial photograph of Twist Castle near Burnley Lancashire England UK. The name castle is a misnomer as its actually too sall to be a castle and is actual fact a Romano-British Farmstead. The raised boundary enclosed the farm and within it would have been one or two homes. In the 19th century a coin was found at the site dated to the reighn of Marcus Aurelius between AD161 and AD 180. The site is now a scheduled ancient monument.
