aerial photograph Huddersfield Road, Bleak Hey nook showing the remains of a World War II anti aircraft gun emplacement on the hills around Oldham. The small mound in the centre of the image is Jackson's Barrow, which might be a burial barrow dating from the bronze age. The "barrow " was excavated in 1974 but no evidence was found to confirm it as such. Unfortunately there has been little or no research into the WWII position so it is not clear whether it mounted a gun, a search light or simply an observation post.
