aerial photograph of Site of Trentham Hall, Trentham Gardens Stoke on Trent Stoke-on-Trent Staffordshire England UK. Trentham Hall was built 1833–42 and was designed by Charles Barry who also designed the Houses of Parliament. By the beginning of the 20th century the Hall was no longer a desirable residence and was offered to the local council for free but they turned it down and so it was demolished in 1912-13. Some small parts were left and are now Grade II listed. At the time part of the hall, the Belvedere Tower was salvaged and erected in the grounds of Sandon Hall where the structure is known as Lord Harrowby's Folly ( See my photo in the Staffordshire gallery )
