The Former Lucas Factory at Acocks Green started as EIC Magnetos the factory was bought by Lucas in 1925 the site used to make Dynamos and Starter motors. At the end of the war they were making gas turbines and through the 50's and 60's they made much of the automotive electrical parts to be found on a vast array of classic cars of the era. The factory was sold to Magneti Marelli and then to Denso whose name it carries here. Shortly after this photograph was taken the factory was closed and has been demolished and replaced with a Florida style retirement village. The adjacent Spring Rd Station was opened in 1908 and is still in use serving the Birmingham to Stratford line. This image is in my book, Birmingham from the air.
