aerial photograph of Canovium Roman Fort, Caerhun North Wales. The fort was first built in timber around AD 77 to guard the river crossing over the river Conwy. It was rebuilt in stone in the second century AD and remained in use until the Roman withdrawal from Britain around 400 AD. The site is quite large with an extensive Vicus to the north of the fort.
