Also known as Cranmer's Mound or Mount, named after the Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Cranmer, during the reign of Henry VIII who was said to have climbed the mound. Aslockton Castle was originally built in the 12th century as a Norman Motte & Bailey Castle but by the time of Thomas Cranmer only the earthworks remain.
