aerial photograph of the Greyhound Bridge and Lune Millennium Bridge Lancaster Lancashire England UK.TheGreyhound Bridge was originally a railway bridge built in 1911 and this is what dives it its distinctive curve. It was converted to road use in 1972. Next to it is the Lune Millennium Bridge was built in the year 2000 to celebrate the Millennium. Its a Cable-stayed footbridge spanning the River Lune and designed by Whitby Bird . it is built on roughly the same site as the 13th century Old Loyne Bridge which was demolished in 1802. Strangely they only demolished one arch of the bridge and the rest was allowed to fall down over the next 40 years with the last pier falling into the river in 1845.
