aerial photograph of Doddington Castle Cheshire, also known as Delves Hall. The Grade I listed tower was built in 1364 by Sir John Delves. Originaly constructed on its own, the tower was incorporated into Doddington Hall 17th century. It was heavily fought over during the English civil war. The hall was demolished around 1777 leaving just the original tower. The 17th century staircase which had been the entrance to the hall was moved to the tower. Despite being a very valuable property, the building is in a very bad condition with Historic England describing it as " Immediate risk of further rapid deterioration ". Fortunately on my last flight over the castle I could see some restoration work being undertaken.
