aerial photograph of Dover Priory railway station Kent England UK, opened in 1861 by the London, Chatham and Dover Railway (LCDR).In 1868 the stationmaster Edward Walsh was murdered and a porter, Thomas Wells was found guilty of the murder. Wells became the first person hanged after the Capital Punishment Amendment Act 1868 banned public executions. From 1922 the LCDR merged and became the Southern Railway who modernized the station in 1932.The line was electrified in 1959 and is still in service to this day.
