aerial photograph of Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral; AKA Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King.Originally intended to be a massive structure designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens , construction was halted by the war and when the war ended the money had run out. A cheaper building was designed by Sir Frederick Gibberd was constructed from 1962 to 1967. It was constructed over the crypt that Lutyens designed which can still be seen to this day and is used for various activities.
