The castle was rebuilt by Baron Sudeley in 1441. Following the war of the Roses the castle was taken over by Edward IV. After the death of Henry VIII, the Queen, Catherine Parr, married Thomas Seymour, Lord High Admiral of England and Baron of Sudeley and were given the castle by Edward VI. Following thier deaths the castle was given to Thomas Brydges, Lord Chandos of Sudeley and was visited several times by Elizebeth I. The castle was damaged during the english civil war and abandoned for 188 years. The castle was restored in the 19th century with the help of Sir George Gilbert Scott . The castle is still in private ownership and is one of Glocsstershires top tourist attractions
