aerial photograph of Ye Olde Man & Scythe Pub , Bolton. Grade II listed Ye Olde Man & Scythe Pub dates from AD 1251 and was rebuilt in 1636. In 1651 James Stanley, 7th Earl of Derby was beheaded outside the pub for his part in the Bolton Massacre. The lefthand side of the builting is used as a shop called Ye Olde Wench & Trinkets
