aerial photograph of St Clears Castle, Carmarthenshire Wales. St Clears Castle is a Motte & Bailey Castle built at the end of the 11th cenutry during the Norman Conquest. The castle was continually fought over during the medieval period until 1405 when it was captured by the English during Owain Glyndŵr's Welsh rebellion. Thereafter it fell into ruin and was abandoned.
