aerial photograph of Ruperra Castle, Caerphilly, Wales. Grade II listed Ruperra Castle was built in 1626. King Charles I stayed here shortly after his defeat in the Battle of Nasby in 1645. The building burnt down in 1785 but was rebuilt only for it to burn down again during the second World War, after which it was abandoned and today lies in ruins.
