The Chapel is famous for the rock-cut tombs which date from the 11th century. To the left of the Chapel ruins is St Peter's Church which is also Grade I listed and dates from the 14th century with extensions in the 15th and 19th centuries. The Church replaced an earlier church which dated from Saxon times and some parts of the original church have been incorporated into the current building.
