aerial photograph of Wisbech Castle, Wisbech Cambridgeshire England UK PE13.Wisbech Castle was a motte-and-bailey castle built in the 11th century just after the Norman Conquest. The original timber castle was rebuilt in stone in the 11th century and again rebuilt in the 15th century. The castle was further rebuilt in the 17th and 19th centuries but no longer as a military structure. The Grade II listed building we see today was built in 1816.
