See more detail ! New for 2008 I am further developing my ultra high resolution aerial photography and now have what I believe to be the highest resolution aerial photographs of Manchester commercially available. Here is a 100% cut out of one:

The image shows the top of one of Manchester's new Tower blocks being completed. This is not a lucky one off shot and I can take shots like this to order on any sunny day. Many of my regular construction firm customers have been astounded at what they are starting to get in 2008. The full image looks like this:

or click here to see a 21 MegaPIxel version

Most of the 2008 images are taken on my new 21 mega pixel Canon 1DS Mk III which I believe to be the best aerial photography camera ever made. The ultra high resolution images are made by mounting the camera on a Kenlabs KS-8 Gyro stabilizer and using a very exotic long lens which cost thousands of pounds but the results speak for themselves.

Previous updates:

See the detail! New for 2007 I have started shooting a few images on a very long lens. To show you what it can do here is a zoomed in section of a super long lens image;

To see another sample of these mega long lens images click here for a nice aerial photo of the fountains in Manchester's Piccadilly Gardens in high summer.

The Manchester 81 Mega pixel Mega-pic

manchester 81 megapixel aerial

The original to this is a TIFF image of 238MB. It was formed from approx 9 images from left to right X 2 images shot to bottom with all the images being shot portrait way up. The original image is 11310 X 7184 pixels before any enlarging making it an 81 mega pixel image. The image was made to allow very large scale mural printing while still allowing high levels of detail. Theoretically stitched oblique aerial photographs are "impossible" because the aircraft is moving and thus every frame is taken from a slightly different point in three dimensional space. To overcome this the image was hand stitched with almost every individual building tweaked and adjusted to fit. Because of the way it is made it should be viewed more as an art work than an exact faithful record. There are anomalies, but you will be hard pressed to find them! Commercial clients can request to see a higher resolution sample before ordering.NB Image licensing costs are exactly twice the normal fee to reflect the week it took to stitch the image together.

New for 2006 is the suburban Manchester gallery which includes all the aerial photographs of Manchester that fall within the M60 ring road but outside the City Centre inner ring road, not just residential areas. This gallery also includes a wide selection of views of the Manchester university campus on Oxford Road, the Manchester Museum, the Trafford Centre and Trafford Park Salford Quays is in a seperate gallery as I have quite a few views of it (click here) .

I can also take your own individual aerial photos to order- click here above for a guide to my commission prices or email me for a bespoke quote. ( Yes I publish a fixed price list , the only one I know of in the business. Prices are based on flying time and not how I'm feeling on a particular day! ) With specially commissioned work I can focus in on a specific building or area and you get a selection of views from different angles. As my prices are based on flying time rather than number of sites then it can be very cost effective to have several nearby sites done at the same time indeed if easy to find and within the city centre then there is usually little extra charge for a second or even third site.

All the stock images in the Webb Aviation aerial image library are available as high resolution digital files suitable for publishing, marketing and planning uses please click here for information and prices of digital files and reproducing these images. Because I have extensive coverage of the city then if you are seeking planning permission for a project or putting together a proposal then I am very likely to have a perfect illustration on file. I am also happy to adjust images to your requirements such as cropping or highlighting particular buildings etc. Up to an hours work is included in the price of a digital file as is the licence to reproduce it.

Update 3.11.05 I'm working through the 2005 images and adding them to the gallery. Because there are so many I have used database software and so they are in a seperate section. Click here for the 2005 aerial photographs of Manchester

Update 29.8.05, Our trusty flying machine has been a regular visitor to the sky above Manchester recently and I have taken several hundred new images but due to a very busy summer there is not much time to add them to the gallery so I've added 8 to the top of this page just to show I'm still alive ;o) If you want an aerial view of anything in central Manchester just email as I will probably have it in stock. I noticed while doing the Manchester pictures that I am up to frame no 9999 since I bought my first digital camera last year... 10,000 photographs in a year ,almost all aerial views of the England.... so I guess that counts as prolific! I have more photographs of Manchester that are not in the gallery than I have that are in.

Update 24.9.05- another batch of photos taken but no time to upload them. Subjects include Cheetham Hill and the area around Oxford rd including the refuge building ( Palace hotel) I am currently working on database software that will make it much easier to put images online so very soon the Manchester gallery should grow dramatically, probably at the end of October.

I am introducing a shopping cart system with a buy button but it is not yet on all pages so please email me where there is no buy button, in a plain email to sales@webbaviation.co.uk.

We have many more stock images of Central Manchester and adjacent parts of Salford . Please email if you have a specific requirement. When enquiring please include the postcode if available.

Frames are my dark wood frame with thick beveled edge mount (p&p included). I have many more stock aerial photos covering most of Manchester city centre and almost everything inside the inner ring road, so please email if you want to buy a view not shown. Aerial photos never look good on the internet but be assured prints look fantastic. Frames are only available within the UK as they are likely to be broken if shipped overseas but prints are available anywhere in the world (overseas customers are responsible for any import duties). Many of these images are taken on a large (645 medium format) negative or a high resolution Digital DSLR camera and are suitable for enlargement up to 30"X 20". I am currently introducing a shopping cart system but this is not yet on every photograph so please order by email where necessary. There is no shopping cart for ordering digital files as I need to agree your usage before processing an order. When ordering don't forget to quote the name/number of the photograph and the name of the gallery (in this case Manchester gallery) and your delivery address.

Aerial photographers Webb Aviation have further stock images other cities in the main picture library. When enquiring about the availability of stock images please quote a post code if at all possible.
