Lord Harcourt had the adjacent village demolished in order to create the surrounding parkland which was styled by Lancelot "Capability" Brown. Today it is owned by University of Oxford and used by the Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University.

Uffington White Horse is a 110m wide prehistoric hill figure representing a horse which was constructed between 1380 and 550 BC probably in association with the adjacent Uffington Castle hillfort. The figure was cut a meter deep and has been regularly cleaned throughout history. The site is now in the care of the National Trust.
