aerial photograph of Southwell Minster Nottinghamshire England UK. Constructed between 1108 and 1150 Southwell Minster replaced a previous Saxon church on the site. Adjacent the Minster are the ruins of the Archbishop of York´s Palace which was destroyed during the English Civil War. The Minster also suffered extensive damage in the civil war as there was heavy fighting in Southwell leading to the Capture of Charles the first in the town by Parliamentarians.
