aerial photograph of Lyme Park. The first record of a house at this location was in 1465, however the land was given to the Leigh family in 1398 by Richard II. The original house was demolished and replaced with the current building in the 16th century. The house was much modified in the 18th and 19th centuries but still retains some original parts. The building is Grade I listed and in the care of the National Trust.
