aerial photograph of Raglan Castle ( Castell Rhaglan ). One of the last great castles in Britain, Raglan had its origins in the 15th century with continual improvements and enlargements during the 16th and 17th centuries. During the English Civil War the castle was heavily fortified with Trenches and bastions. It was eventually taken by Parliamentarian forces in 1646 , after which it was slighted, leaving the ruin we see today.
