aerial photograph of Manchester Oxford Road railway station, Manchester , England UK Manchester Oxford Road railway station was opened by the Manchester, South Junction and Altrincham Railway (MSJAR) in 1849 with the current architecture dating from a rebuilding of the station in 1960. The viaduct it is built on dates from 1839 and is Grade II listed. Because the station sits on top of this historic viaduct, it was built using light weight construction methods and is itself Grade II listed. The current station was designed by British Rail's W.R. Headley and Max Glendinning
