black & white aerial photograph of Dudley Priory, Dudley, West Midlands ,England UK. Grade I listed Dudley Priory was founded in AD1160 by the Lord of Dudley. The Priory was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539 and its assets Sir John Dudley1st Duke of Northumberland. After Henry's death Sir John attempted to put his Daughter in Law, Lady Jane Grey on the throne. She was queen for only 9 days before being replaced by Queen Mary, following which Sir John Dudley was tried and executed for Treason. After his death the priory fell into ruin and was used for industrial purposes until purchased by Dudley County Borough in 1926, who incorporated it into Priory Park.
