aerial photograph of Great Western Railway (GWR) 2800 Class 2-8-0 steam locomotive number 2857 belonging to the Severn Valley Railway. The 2800 class were designed by G.J. Churchward and intended for use in heavy freight work. The prototype was built in 1903 and No 2857 was constructed in 1918. She was withdrawn from service in April 1963 and ended her days at the famous Woodham Brothers scrap yard at Barry Docks in South Wales from where she was rescued in 1975. She has since been fully restored and runs regular steam excursions on the Severn Valley Railway.
