The first depot at Hornsey was opened by the Great Northern Railway (GNR) in 1850 and catered for steam engines. Those original buildings are now long gone but the site is stil used for looking after rolling stock. Today the depot is an electric multiple unit depot ( EMU ) used for maintenance of the Thameslink Class 700.
