aerial photograph of the Skelton Viaduct near Goole Yorkshire UK. The Goole railway swing bridge, properly called the Skelton Viaduct, was opened in 1869 and is still in use today. Constructed of wrought iron box girders the swing bridge was built by the North Eastern Railway to a design by Thomas Elliot Harrison. In 2010 the bridge had a £6 million repair and upgrade to secure its future for many years to come.
