aerial photograph of the Ribblehead Viaduct Ribblehead, North Yorkshire England UK.( aka Batty Moss Railway Viaduct ) The Grade II listed Ribblehead Viaduct was opened by the Midland Railway in 1875 and carries the Settle–Carlisle railway across Batty Moss in the Ribble Valley.The Viaduct took 6 years and 2000 men to construct. It was designed by John Sydney Crossley who was the Midland Railway's Chief Engineer. The remains of the construction camp still lie around the base of the viaduct.
