East Wykeham first appears i the historial recored in 1086 when its entry in the Doomsday book indicates it was very small. Poll Tax returns of 1377 show 59 tax payers in east and West Wykeham combined, however by 1428 both villages had fewer than 10 households with only a single family left by 1563. The village church was still in use in 1519 but by 1637 it was recorded as being in ruins.
