aerial photograph of Bronze Age barrows on Five Barrows Hill, in the Exmoor National Park, Devon, England UK. There are actually rather more than five barrows on five barrow hill, probably around 8. The Hill likely gets its name from the fact that five of the barrows are visible from the roadway lower down the hill. Bowl Barrow burials typically date from the late Neolithic period to the Late Bronze Age, with the majority dated between 2400-1500BC. They are constructed as an earthen mound and may contain a single burial or several. There are more than 370 Barrows on Exmoor. Although the Barrows on 5 Barrow Hll have suffered some degrading over the years, considering they 4or 5000 years old, the archeology is remarkably well preserved.
