Sheffield Manor Lodge was built during the reign of Henry VIII around 1516 as a Lodge in what at the time was a large deer park. The largest surviving part is the Turret House which was constructed in the latter half of the 16th century and is also known as "Queen Mary's Tower" as Mary, Queen of Scots was imprisoned in it. The Manor fell into ruins in the 18th century.In 2004 Sheffield Manor Lodge was filmed as part of the BBC TV programme "Restoration" and subsequently the ruins were restored as a heritage attraction, open to the public.
