Grade I listed St Bartholomew's Church dates from the 12th century with a 14th century free standing tower. The church is built adjacent the site of the medieval castle which gives the village its name with remains of the castle visible on the left of the photograph. The castle was constructed in the 11th century but had been abandoned by the 16th century.
