On the right edge of the image is the Grade II listed Hawkshead Market Hall and Market Hall Cottage which was built in 1790 and enlarged 1887. In front of it is a traditional K6 telephone box which was designed 1935 by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott who also designed Battersea Power station and Liverpool Cathedral. The telephone box is also Grade II listed. In the centre left foreground is the Co-Op which is also Grade II listed as is the building below in the centre foreground which is the Kings Arms, a Public House dating from the 17th century. To the left of the Co-Op the yellow building is the Beatrix Potter Gallery run by the National Trust. The building is Grade II listed and dates from the 17th Century. To the left of that is the Grade II listed Red Lion Hotel which probably dates from the 17th century but was rebuilt in the 19th century.
