aerial photograph of Barnard Castle County Durham England, UK DL12. Grade I listed Barnard Castle was built at the end of the 11th century by Guy de Balliol. The castle was extended and improved throughout the medieval period and in 1216 held out against besieging Scottish forces. In the 15th century the castle was owned by Richard, Duke of Gloucester who was later crowned Richard III. The Castle was abandoned in the 17th century and the ruins are now in the care of English Heritage.

That's fine for searches of places or well known buildings but in most cases I have not entered road name or a post code.
