Horsey Hill English Civil War fortification is a scheduled monument and is a remarkable survivor from the English Civil War. It was a complex sconce star shaped bastion known as a sconce and would have mounted canon to defend the Fen Causeway and Nene crossing.The fort was built 1643-4 by Parliamentarian forces and was sufficiently strong that Royalist Forces never attempted to attack it.
