aerial photograph of 3 Hawker Hurricanes on display at the Kent Battle of Britain Museum. Hawkinge, Kent UK. Designed by Sir Sydney Camm , the Hawker Hurricane was the most numerous British fighter aircraft during the Battle of Britain , accounting for 60% of kills. The aircraft's simple construction and easier of repair and maintenance allowed higher availability than the more complex Spitfire. The Hurricanes on display at Hawkinge are replicas constructed for the film "The Battle of Britain" which was filmed partially at this location in 1968. The Museum is situated in what remains of the Battle of Britain airfield RAF Hawkinge which was opened in 1915 and operational until 1961
